Thank you for your patience as we have reviewed our returning to classroom in light of the current public health situation. Being together in a classroom is the most effective way for students to learn and grow. Since COVID-19 remains a relatively mild illness for most children, we’re committed to resume classroom lesson in 2022.

All the staff are confirmed as fully vaccinated. We strongly encourage all students and their families to get vaccinated. Children aged 5 to 11 can now get vaccinated. Parents are encouraged to book their child in for a vaccination at the first available opportunity. • Once eligible, all adults are encouraged to get booster shots. We will take every reasonable measure including use FDA approved automatic Disinfectant Sprayer, reduce the risk of transmission for COVID-19, and to make a safe educational environment so that the students can gain the benefit of the face-to-face lesson. We will continue to monitor the situation and where face-to-face learning is not possible, online lesson will be delivered for short period.  Meanwhile, we implement blended approach from this term, please contact us via eppingwestchineseschool@outlook.com for Wednesday and Thursday evening online lesson.

We will support this through the following measures:

• All students and staff will be required to wear a medical grade mask at all times whilst indoors

• All students who are attending should have their School supplied RAHT test as instructed. There will be a requirement for students and staff to undertake a RAHT twice weekly for at least the next four weeks

• If your child has previously been a positive COVID case during the break they do not need to test. Please provide proof of the positive notification with dates to the staff. Parents agree to collect their child/ren when the symptoms develop.

• As you will be well aware, the Public Health Orders and definitions can change overnight. We will regularly communicate to parents about the presence and impact of COVID-19 in the community. We urge parents to pay attention to the update.

EWCS Covid-19 Protocols for students

PROTOCOL 1 – Covid 19 confirmed by a positive test

1. Isolate at home for at least 7 days from the day you had your test. If you have symptoms at Day 6, have a RAHT test.

2. If test is positive you must stay at home until symptoms are gone. If you have symptoms seek medical advice.

3. Notify the School that you have Covid-19, as well as ServiceNSW.

4. If you have no symptoms at Day 7, you can return to school. You do not need a further test. Always seek medical help if you become very unwell.

学生如果确诊，至少7天自我隔离，第六日仍然有症状请安排快速测试；如是阳性必须在家隔离直到症状消失。倘若有症状请寻求医学建议。通知学校你确诊，并在Service NSW备注。隔离的第7日如没有症状可以返校。无需进一步的测试。极度不舒服的时候寻找医生帮助。

Protocol 2 Household Contact

1.Isolate at home for at least 7 days from the day of contact with the person who has Covid-19. If you have symptoms at any stage, have a RAHT test.

2. If the RAHT test is negative, continue the 7- day isolation.

3. If the RAHT test is positive, you are now a confirmed positive case. Follow Protocol 1. Always seek medical help if you become very unwell.

如果在居家感染，从接触确诊病人的第一天算起在家隔离7天。任何阶段出现症状立即测试。倘若测试结果为阴性，继续7天的隔离。如果测试结果为阳性就转为确诊病人。遵循第一案例的程序，极度不舒服的时候寻找医生帮助。

Protocol 3 Other contacts

(That is less contact with someone with Covid-19, such as contact in a social, shopping, education or workplace setting).

1. You should monitor for symptoms and have a test if these occur. If positive, follow Protocol 1 and stay at home until test is negative.

Students enrolled with Epping West Chinese School must:

• Stay at home if unwell •
• Use hand sanitizer and physical distance where possible •
• Wear a mask when indoors at school •
• Consider being fully vaccinated (including the booster as soon as eligible)

More than 85% teachers and teacher assistants are formed by existing or then Epping West Public School volunteer parents.  Every teaching team member is verified in Working with Children check system. Pathway for professional and personal growth will be offered to the right candidate. The responsibilities of teachers include notifying parents about next lesson contents, monitor student classroom behaviors, maintain classroom tidiness and cleanness, look after school property as well as assisting roster schedule when applicable. Refer to checklist for details.

We are a non-for-profit legal entity, independent from political party, religion and any other commercial business nor organisations.  Our below market tuition is to cover teacher allowance and basic operating expense.  Parents are encouraged to apply and redeem the Creative Kids Voucher. When needed, each family is required to assist once a term.  The parents on duty are expected to assist with student collection, classroom maintenance, break supervision and provide recess when applicable.  During pandemic period, we do not provide food. Parents should prepare snack for their child/ren. Parent should inform any absence beforehand. Tuition fee is non-refundable unless approved.

We value our privacy.  Selected class photos/video is to publish on our own website or yearbook only, with parents’ consent. All information in class group is not to be forwarded nor post in social media.

All parents are required to indicate their child/ren name and class in the group alias, so that the teacher can identify and verify the final student list. This can avoid any unauthorised access and facilitate transparent communications.

Orientation of New Students

All parents of new students are strongly recommended to visit our website www.eppingwestchineseschool.nsw.edu.au for our program.  The communication channel is open in class group. Email is welcome too when necessary.

Thanks to the late start, enrolled kindergarten students are welcome to attend the orientation one week before their official school commerce day. Weekday students are required to attend orientation in school uniform.

Drop off and Pick-up

Weekday Class:

We collect the kindergarten and new Year one students from their mainstream classroom after class. Year 1 students are encouraged to meet the teachers in front of the Hall. Our teacher and Teacher Assistants will have red vest for identification.

Weekday class parents are reminded to inform teachers that their own child/ren will attend Chinese class on a specific day. The classroom allocation is shared in the class channel.

Parents are required to arrive to collect their child/ren from Gate 3 no later than 5:20pm.

Weekend Class

Parents are expected to drop off their child/ren 5 minutes before the lesson time at Gate 3, and collect their child/ren 5 minutes after the lesson time, from Gate 3.

Weekend students are suggested to go to bathroom before home departure.

周中学前和1年级新生下课后在课室等待我们的老师来接。1年级的学生熟悉以后鼓励自行到礼堂和穿着红色工作背心的老师会合。周中班的家长需要书面通知日间老师自己的小孩在某一日在指定的课室上中文班。课室的分配在班群和网站公布。家长需要在下课后5分钟内从3号门接走学生。

周末班的家长需要在上课前5分钟把学生送到3号门，下课后5分钟从3号门接走小孩。
